No matter who you are, Or what you do, There comes a time when we all need a little helpful tip to make our everyday tasks easier. Peruse on and you will find scads of stuff we stole to help improve the effectiveness of your common household items. Utilize them,

  1. You can pick up small pieces of broken glass with a slice of fresh bread.
  2. Keep a toothbrush near the kitchen sink for cleaning the hard to wash crevices.
  3. Use crumpled up newspaper to remove odors from your plastic containers.
  4. Pancakes won't stick if you rub the griddle down with salt.
  5. Kill germs on your dish towel by microwaving it for 45 seconds
  6. If you bake your fish on a lettuce, it won't stick.
  7.  You can tenderize your meat by rubbing it with a kiwi.
  8. An easy way to butter your corn on the cob, is to fill a tall jar with hot water, plop in a few globs of butter then dip your ear in, the butter will stick evenly on the corn.
  9. You can extend the life of your bread by putting a stick of celery in the bag with it.
  10. If you like a flaky crust, try lightly brushing it with cold water before baking.
  11. Put a slice of bread in with your fresh baked cookies, that will keep them soft for days.
  12. Try repelling mosquitoes by rubbing down with an orange, or if you are by yourself, you can try an onion.
  13. It is said hairspray works to stop bees and wasps, but spray adhesive works much better.When you find the hive it's a lot of fun to spray them coming as well as going,Get 'em all, but bee careful.
  14. Keep your dog clean during the winter months by rubbing it down with baking soda, then brush it out, it won't dry out their skin.
  15. To determine the length of a drive belt or band saw blade, make a mark on the ground and one on the loop, line up the marks and start rolling, when loop mark touches the ground make another mark, then just measure the distance between the two ground marks and there you have it.
  16. To prevent splitting wood when nailing, tap the point with your hammer.
  17. Save yourself a lot cleaning up paint roller trays by sliding them into a plastic shopping bag, or cover them with tin foil.
  18. Try stretching a rubber band across the mouth of your paint can, when you dip scrape the excess off on the band it will drip back into the can, not down the side.
  19. Use a old ketchup bottle to make cool pancakes.
  20. Save ashes from your summer campfires for emergency traction on icy roads.
  21. You can rid your cacti of parasites by scrubbing them with a toothbrush.
  22. Try feeding your tropical fish pond water, they love it.
  23. Grow your tomatoes upside down from a hanging basket, you will be very surprised at how well they do.
  24. Make your own butter by shaking a pint or more of whipping cream in a sealed jar until it thickens, your arteries will love you.
  25. Coat your snow shovel with non stick cooking spray, or WD40, this will keep the snow from sticking.
  26. To keep ice from forming on your windshield, mix 3 parts white vinegar with 1 part water apply to your windshield.
  27. You can make your own cheap but effective windshield washer fluid, by mixing 2 quarts rubbing alcohol, 1 cup water,1/4 teaspoon dish soap.
  28. While cooking, rinse your utensils often, that will keep your cooking area much cleaner.
  29. You can easily clean food that has been burnt in your pots and pans by filling them with water and bringing it to a boil,(not the one on your friend) the food comes right off.
  30. Place a few drops of your favorite scented oil on the exhaust filter of your vacuum cleaner, this will make your house smell great every time you vacuum.
  31. Save some saw dust from your wood floor work, or table top making, mix with wood glue to fill the cracks before you put on the finish.
  32. Criss cross your garden with copper wire, you will be amazed with how well your veggies grow.
  33.  Unravel your old wool sweaters and re roll, now you have wool to knit a scarf or socks for me.
  34. Boil a bowl of water in your microwave just before you clean it, this will make it a much easier to clean.
  35. Next time you BAKE a potato, try sliding a non galvanized through the middle, this draws the heat toward the center this could shave as much as fifteen minutes from the cook time.
  36. To clean rust from your baking dish try rubbing it with a raw potato and your brand of detergent.
  37. Vodka works well for cleaning untreated eye glass lenses.
  38. Vodka will also stop the pain of swimmers ear, not just by drinking it, you can also tilt your head to the side and pour some in, let sit for a second or two then tilt to drain. now you can drink it.
  39. A wooden clamp hanger works well to hold a cook book open, and you can hang it on the knob of your cabinet for easy reading,it can work in the shower but only once!
  40. You can prevent creases caused by hangers easily by cutting the cardboard tube from a paper towel roll in half the long way and slide one half over your hanger.
  41. Make your own desert plant mix by combining two parts organics with one part sand, one part gravel.
  42. Instead of throwing away all those small soap slivers, save them for making your own liquid hand soap, it's easy, just put them in your blender with some warm water and blend, add  water until you reach the desired consistency.
